Yokohama is the second largest city in Japan. It is in the middle of Japan, south of Tokyo. It is a major port city and Yokohama literally translates as Bay Side.

In the mid-1800s Yokohama became the first port of contact for foreigners in Japan. This made it the most international city in Japan. It was the first city to have a newspaper, gas lamps, and railroad.

Today Yokohama is a vibrant city that hosts many points of interest for both business and tourism. It is definitely worth a visit as part of a trip to Japan.
